Luxe Corsets From Maya Hansen

We fall in love with Maya Hansen collection for Spring/Summer 2011 and fall even deeper when we see the rest of her previous collections. Not just she resurrects the Victorian corsets into today's life style, but she always brings a story to life in every piece of her corset. If we could describe her creations in four words, that would be Elegant, sexy, playful, and provocative. Thus, It is more than enough to make her our Featured Designer this November.

Maya Carbajal Alex-Hansen was born in Madrid in 1978, daughter of an Argentinian father and a Danish mother. She graduated from Madrid Fashion Design Institute in 2002.

After winning numerous fashion awards and after several successful collaborations with designers, in November 2003, Maya Hansen started producing and selling her own brand 'Maya Hansen'. Then later in 2006 became a corsétière.

She dedicates her time not only to the design corsets but also to the investigation of corset technique based on patterns, materials and textiles from the beginning of 20th century to create a unique and in many cases unrepeatable piece. Her steel boned corsets combine high fashion with European style and traditional corsetry methods and have received recognition from all corners of the fashion industry.
